quick camera question...

ktron(this is from kelly's birthday jam the other night, by the way...)
anybody know how to not get the splotchy, dusty look i'm getting on photos like this? it mostly only happens on ones taken at the laurel theater -- low light, with the fixtures along the walls so they end up in most of the pictures. ideas? is there some way i can set the camera to still get action and not splotches? some way to situate myself in relation to the lights?
