17 out of 20 here...

can you distinguish between real and fake smiles? it's a neat little quizzie. i did better than i expected to - don't typically think of myself as very perceptive at these things, and i'm a lousy liar myself so i figured i wouldn't know the symptoms as well as most...

heavy circulation apparently

you're the 2nd person on my friends list to post that. and i know there is no way the 2 of you would know each other at all. i wonder how far back we have to trace the meme tree until we find the common source (he tells to friends, and they tell two friends, and so on, and so on...).

i got a lousy 9/20, but i didn't trust anyone. they all looked fake to me. without a context to put it in (like a conversation or the body language of the other people in the room) i had no choice but to judge the smile quickly fading from the eyes as fakery, but i guess it was just returning attention to the conversation at hand.

actually, i was feeling adverse to actually working, and my friends weren't posting enough to keep me occupied, so i was cruising friends lists of people who have friends i don't have :) so fear not, synchronicity is not really striking!

suppose i should mention "blatantly stolen from [Bad username or site: weret hekau @ livejournal.com], eh? (i hope i spelled that right, but i'm too lazy to go check at the moment... and i really should do some work instead of over-extending my break time...)

grr.. i've forgotten how to use the lj username tag thing. but weret hekau. or something similar. that's the source!

oh yeah, and, sorry to mail-bomb you if you do get comments via e-mail... but i'd say i decided to distinguish between spontaneous vs. "you're taking my photo" smiles... not between "i'm supposed to think this is amusing, i'll smile" and "i'm actually happy and think you're hilarious" ones. sounds like you may have gone for a deeper level of real smiles.

I did quite poorly on that one. Surprising? Maybe?

Those Amelie icons are great, btw. :-)

I got 18/20 but I grew up with two psychologist as parents, and I'm an art student. So yeah, I kinda HAVE to know this.

I guess I pat attention to people more than I thought. I think it also has to do with being able to see straight through high school students and their bad lies.

18/20...not bad all in all :) I spotted all of the fake smiles successfully and claimed two of the genuine ones were fakes. guess i've got a slightly pessimistic outlook on life neh?
