nashville, anyone?

i'm in manchester visiting the family. fortuitous timing: tovven just happens to be home visiting hers too, so we got to hang out and catch up last night. but tonight, mom, dad, and grandma are all going to the ryman for a concert... i was going to stay here and raid mom's video collection, but it has recently been pointed out that downtown nashville surrounds the ryman and that a free ride's a free ride. i'm still not sure if i'm up to wandering around by myself, but i thought i'd check -- anyone in/around nashville and horribly bored/want to hang out with me this evening? if not, got any good recommendations for a coffee shop, ideally in easy walking distance from the ryman and full of interesting people to watch while sitting around for three hours with a book? or directions to the nearest arthouse movie theater? or anything else you'd do if you were, say, stuck near the ryman from 7:30 until whenever merle haggard gets tired and goes away?

All I can reccommend is what I do every Sunday and it's right on second ave. I head to NV. It's the club across the street from grand central. (yeah i know, little me in a club)But anyway, tonight is 80's night downstairs and while the music is loud it's a neat place to meet and have conversation with some cool people (including me *grins*). Normall Sunday is goth night (I'm nto a goth either, but the music is good) but people keep wanting an 80's night every now and then. SO if you want ot come by it's free cover (over 21 for anyone else reading this) till 9:30 (doors open at nine) and 5 bucks afterward. I think it's worth it.

If you get bored come on by..I'll be the red head in the shiny blue tights...I look like Sarah Connor on the date she never got to go on. :)

sounds neat! if we'd been around a bit later... alas, the country music folks being not-so-night-owlish, i was back on the road home by 10. ah well, would've been nice to run into you, but i didn't really have any club-appropriate clothes along anyhow!
