weird. the last couple times i've tried jogging (a week ago and today), i'll get about 5-7 minutes in, then the side stitch hits. bad. all down the right side. last week, i figured i was trying too hard to increase my pace too fast. during the week, there was one day at karate where i had to stop running for a few minutes; that day, i tried to blame it on a lousy lunch. today, i tried to take my jog at a nice, slow, enjoyable pace that i knew i'd handled before without a problem. stitch still hits. wtf? have i lost the ability to breathe or something? no problem playing on the elliptical trainer, just running. grr...

a little internet research says it might be the ligaments between the diaphragm and the liver. jarring plus breathing in and out leads to over-stretching. which makes the not feeling it on the elliptical sensible. strengthening abs supposedly helps some. and it's possibly related to exhaling when the right foot's hitting? oh yeah, i do that one. is this a band geek thing? i automatically go into putting my steps into four beat measures, with one hitting at left, and exhales come on either two and four or just four, depending how hard i'm needing to breathe. guess it's time to rewire the brain a little... or maybe i'll just resign myself to stopping and yelling out "ow, my liver!" at top volume next time...

could be that too, i suppose... i generally drink a lot more than i need, and i had prob'ly half a liter of water between waking up and heading for the park, but getting a bit too beery on saturday nights can undo a lot, i s'pose.
