it was an effort to stop the eyes-rolling auto-reaction to any and all mention of comic books. all in the name of good-girlfriendliness... after all, i was the one who recommended reading michael chabon's kavalier and clay, which resparked the old obsession. some non-comics-obsessed friends had recommended the sandman series by neil gaiman, and i really liked his and terry pratchett's novel good omens... so i bought a copy of the first graphic novel installment.

oops. started it wednesday, almost finished now. i think i might have to buy myself another...

norma's crazy over sandman

i haven't read any of it yet because i don't have time to become obsessed.

i have enjoyed his novels. and norma's got several autographed hard covers. he also has a blog that norma frequents but i don't know where it is to link it for you and i'm too lazy to google it so i'll let you do that part if you give a damn. =)

I've heard fantastic things about Sandman...but I'm already a bit of a Gaiman fan from some of his novels. If you like graphic novels, I would also recommend The Watchmen (Alan Moore) and perhaps The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (also Alan Moore, and much better than the movie). And then, if you're really into the comics stuff, Earth X (Marvel) and Kingdom Come (DC) are both pretty good graphic novels. And J. Michael Stracynski's Midnight Nation (Top Cow) is awesome, especially if you're a Gaiman fan; you can see what a strong influence Gaiman's Neverwhere had on the piece.

Hah! The only comic I've ever read is a copy of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac someone gave me for Christmas. It's good, but don't read JTHM unless you're in a pretty... er... dark mood.

Yay for Jhonen Vasquez! The only other thing I've ever seen by him is Invader Zim, so I'd have to say that guy has a rather twisted sense of humor. :P
